When DCI Jack Tyler is called upon to investigate the murder of a man who was killed while trying to protect a girl from an aggressive drunk, he thinks the case is going to be fairly straight forward. He should have known better.

 

Recently released from prison, a convicted rapist is desperate to track down the love of his life and rekindle their relationship, but she has very different ideas, and would rather die than have him come anywhere near her.

 

When a conspiracy to kidnap goes wrong after eight years in the planning, those involved begin to turn on each other.

 

As their fates become increasingly entwined, not all of them will survive the fallout that follows.
